Janjira Fort

Murud-Janjira fort, the unconquered This Fort has some great history to it. Built right in front of the enemy and then it was never taken by enemy forces. We got an extra bonus as we got to sail out to it. This boat had all the makings of the classic disasters you read about in this part of the world. "30 die on 17 foot boat". We sat where ever there was room to squat, its amazing how much more room there is without those pesky life jackets. They pole us out to deeper water then unfurl the sail, by hand. The fort boasts a fresh water tank so there was always fresh (non salty) water at the fort. It looked a bit green when we visited, i cant say it was drinkable. One thing for sure is the Indians didn't mess around with small caliber cannons. We have seen some tremendous bores on the cannon here. Alas it was time for the down wind run back to the pier.
